Hey! You may have seen our recent update on Social. The launch of our new VIRTUAL CLASS TIMETABLE includes the ‘WOD – CROSSFIT* Class.
Thinking of joining?
Then here’s everything you need to know!
So, what is CrossFit?
Taken from the official CrossFit site.
CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing.
Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.
CrossFit contends that a person is as fit as they are proficient in each of ten general physical skills: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy.
Or in my terms…. CrossFit is a type of training that helps to build strength, conditioning and endurance. It combines various sports elements to create extremely challenging workouts.
A typical CrossFit gym is unlike any commercial gym you will come across. You won’t find weight machines or ellipticals.
But, you should be able to find barbels, boxes, kettlebells, pull up bars, skipping ropes and dumbbells.
The thing I like about CrossFit the most is the variety and being able to take different styles of training from different sports. If you often find yourself getting bored of doing the same activity then this style of training could be for you. There are thousands of WODS (Workout Of Day) inspired by all types of training from Strongman, Olympic Lifting, Powerlifting and Bodyweight training.
While we are in Lockdown the majority of the WODs we will be doing in the Virtual WOD-CrossFit* class will be mostly bodyweight UNLESS the majority have access to a barbel 😉
If you’re ready to give CrossFit a try then my virtual class is perfect for beginners.
